Judy Jones passed away peacefully in a Seattle hospital on August 23, 2026 surrounded by her family and friends, after a sudden diagnosis and subsequent surgery for a brain tumor. Judy was born on April 29, 1954 in Gary, Indiana, to Gilbert and Margie Dewes. At a young age, Judy relocated with her family to Brainerd, Minnesota, and she attended school there. After graduation and several years working, she moved to Tacoma, Washington, to help her sister Paula with the birth of her first child. Judy loved the Pacific Northwest, and it became her home. Judy married her devoted and beloved husband Bob, on December 01, 1984. The two were inseparable for 34 years of marriage, until Bob’s death in 2018.

Judy thoroughly enjoyed learning and research. As an older adult, she earned a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Washington, graduating summa cum laude. Judy also spent countless hours researching her family’s genealogy, discovering and connecting with numerous relatives, and leaving a treasure trove of information and relationships.

Judy's life passion was her faith and love for Jesus Christ. He was her pearl of great price, and she lived her life in an unwavering friendship with him. She was a true prayer warrior, and could be counted on to intercede whenever asked. Her life’s mission was leading souls to a deep and personal relationship with Jesus, and she was a spiritual mother and mentor to many. Even in the hospital, she continued to pray for and minister to others.

Judy was always a caring and protective big sister to her siblings, and a special and devoted aunt, roles she took seriously. She was generous and supportive to relatives and friends, encouraging others with cards and meaningful personal keepsakes. She had a gift for conversing with anyone, and could draw people into a conversation and make them feel at ease. Judy had a quick wit and a lively sense of humor. She could bring laughter to any situation, even joking with her family the morning before surgery.

Judy is survived by her siblings Kathy Dewes, Paula (Chip) Withrow, Betty Nunes, Mary (Jess) Krick, Gil (Nicole) Dewes, and Patti Dewes, 17 nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, and her parents.

At Judy’s request, there will not be a memorial service. She will be inurned in Nisswa, Minnesota next to her beloved Bob, in a plot near her parents’ grave, at a later date.

Judy had a compassionate and generous heart. Even during the uncertainty of her own widowhood, Judy sponsored another widow in Guatemala through Unbound, an organization that assists children and the aging in impoverished areas throughout the world.
